About The Pause Practice

More about The Pause Practice

Midlife Is Not an Ending — It’s an Awakening

Midlife is not an ending—it’s an awakening. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and rewrite the rules, choosing a life that aligns with your values, passions, and purpose—not one dictated by cultural norms or past expectations.

As a therapist, I specialize in helping women navigate the emotional and physical changes of menopause, along with the deeper questions of identity, purpose, and freedom that often arise in this transformative chapter of life.

Midlife can feel overwhelming and isolating. The pressures to conform, the shifting sense of self, and the weight of expectations can leave you feeling disconnected from who you truly are.

But this season is also an opportunity—to break free from societal ‘shoulds,’ reclaim your voice, and step fully into a life that is authentic, meaningful, and unapologetically yours.

Together, we’ll explore how to embrace this chapter with curiosity and empowerment, so you can step into your fullest self.

Standing in the Middle of Two Worlds

Midlife can feel like both an unraveling and an awakening—a time of profound change, self-discovery, and transformation. You may be navigating menopause, grief, shifting relationships, or redefining your sense of purpose.

For so long, life may have been about moving forward, building, striving—but suddenly, you find yourself looking back. Maybe you’re grieving the life you didn’t get to have, questioning past choices, or wondering where the time went.

Or maybe, like Evelyn Couch in Fried Green Tomatoes, you’ve found yourself saying:

“I’m too old to be young and too young to be old!”

Midlife can feel like standing in the middle of two worlds—one foot in the past, the other inching toward the future, wondering where exactly you belong. Regret, nostalgia, and self-doubt can feel heavy, but they don’t have to define this chapter of your life.

As a clinical social worker with 20 years of experience, I specialize in helping women embrace this stage with strength, clarity, and self-compassion—not by avoiding the past, but by making peace with it and moving forward in a way that feels deeply intentional and fulfilling.

“Aging is not just decay. It’s growth. It’s more than the negative that you’re going to die, it’s the positive that you understand you’re going to die, and that changes how you live.”
— Morrie Schwartz, Tuesdays with Morrie

Midlife may not come with a rulebook, but it does come with wisdom, resilience, and a newfound ability to take up space and live life for YOU.
